The house is a 17th. century Venetian Villa, part of once what was a large mansion belonging to one of the three noble families that were resident in the village.
Agios Mattheos is a traditional farming village in south central Corfu, some 22km. from Corfu Town and unlike most of the villages and towns on the island that close up after the tourist season, Agios Mattheos is alive all year with permanent residents.
The village is 900m from lovely Paramonas Beach.
The house is situated at the ?top? of the village, with fantastic views over the forested and rural valley with sea and mainland views.
The house is 3 storeys, rising up the hillside with the bedrooms on the bottom floors whilst the top floor is the living area and veranda, taking advantage of the spectacular views and cool breezes.
The house has 4 bedroom and 3 bathrooms, 2 of which are en-suite.
The Lounge, Kitchen and Dining Room occupy the top floor together with the veranda. The dining room has floor to ceiling sliding doors which can be opened to make the veranda/dining room larger.
The house has 3 slow combustion wood stoves for heating and one of these stoves also feeds the radiators on the middle floor.
There are wall mounted oscillating fans throughout the house, as air conditioning is not required *due to the thickness of the walls, which keep the house cool in summer and retains the heat in winter as well as it?s position high up the hillside, which ensures there is always a breeze.
One unique feature is that there is a solar heated (with electric heater backup) indoor plunge pool on the lower pool with adjacent entertainment room.
Finally, there a garage, big enough for 2 small cars or 1 large car and a store room.
The garage is likewise, a major advantage as parking in these old villages is almost non-existent.
