The house.
A lovely house built in the 1970s in local stone by the commune of Villeneuve d Allier.
The house is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, a Unesco heritage site, forming part of a row (?lotissement?) of 8 properties surrounded by land owned and maintained by the lotissement. The house, No 2, comprises three floors, approx. 120 sq m of habitable space, and benefits from a new roof 10 years ago.

Entering the house, into a hallway, on the right there is a new fully fitted kitchen with hob oven and extractor with plenty of cupboard space. On the same level, a large sitting/dining room with an insert wood burning fire. The full width window allows for a wonderful panoramic view along the Gorges de l?Allier, up to the chateau and church of St Ilpize, standing together in an elevated position astride a volcanic outcrop, beautifully illuminated at night.

The upper floor (Mezzanine) comprises a large bedroom and separate bathroom with a recently installed shower, toilet and basin.

The lower floor of the house has a large bedroom, currently set up with a double bed and bunk beds.

The bathroom has a shower over bath, toilet and basin. Further to the back is a useful large cellar/store room.

The lower floor of the house leads out to communal land at the rear of the house.

Adequate parking exists at both ends of the private lane.

The village
Villeneuve-d-Allier is a commune in the Haute Loire department in south-central France. Population of 300. It is a traditional, quiet village which remains unspoilt and which has not been overtaken by tourism. The Boulangerie attracts customers from the surrounding villages.

The area
Haute Loire is one of 4 departments, making up the Auvergne region. It is known for its mountain ranges and dormant volcanoes. There is plenty to see, do and explore - outdoor activities, hiking, canoeing to exploring Romanesque churches, towns and cities. Local dishes and food products, specialities and gastronomic delights making it a great area to enjoy local cuisine.

Brioude is the closest town, 13kms away accessed by a winding road that follows the river valley, offering everything needed, including a vibrant market and Romanesque Basilica.
