La Gimbretiere is a Farmhouse (Maison de Maître) dating from 1820 with stunning views over the valley of the Gartempe surrounded by 40 Hectares of farmland. It was acquired by its present owners Mr&Mrs Lasance in 2007 after remaining vacant for 30 odd years. Over the next 15 years it was completely renovated, including installing a steel reinforced ring beam, dormer windows and complete new roof. From one outside toilet, and one cold tap in the kitchen, the property was upgraded to five bathrooms and six toilets. Twenty nine doors and windows were replaced, bespoke manufactured in Indonesia from tropical 100 year old teak hardwood. The ground floors were lifted and insulation and underfloor heating installed serviced by a ground source heat pump.
